Classic pot-style strainers are very large and take up a lot of space. In the kitchen cupboard, in the dishwasher, basically everywhere. Hand washing is tedious, time consuming and wastes a lot of water. If you wash them in the dishwasher, they fill it up very quickly. This also means wasting energy.
The lid sieves are much more space-saving. But unfortunately, most of them are made of plastic. Plastic is not hygienic. It also loses color, becomes brittle and breaks. Therefore, such products are disposed of after a short time. It’s a waste of money and it’s not good for the environment either.
There are lid sieves made of stainless steel. Because you need to hold them exactly where hot water bubbles and steam rises, they are very dangerous. The surface can get hot and cause burns. Often you have wet or greasy fingers while cooking. As a result, such sieves can slide off, which is another source of danger.
There are lid sieves which should cling to the edge of the pot by means of spring force. However, the force is too small, and the sieve can fall off when pouring. That can also be dangerous.

The sieve is clamped around the edge of the pot and fixed by an excentre. The tension is so high that the sieve cannot loosen. It is x-times the load caused by the food and is therefore absolutely reliable. Therefore, there is no need to hold the sieve by hand. This means that the hands are out danger. That makes the sieve absolutely safe. In addition, the silicone pads ensure more safety.
Very compact: it takes up approx. 90% less space than normal sieves
